Morningside Memoir Group is a bi-weekly workshop and critique group for memoirists, personal essayists, magazine columnists, newspaper journalists, travelogue writers. The writers in the group have a firm foundation on the craft. We’re a diverse group and welcome people from all ages and walks of life – diverse backgrounds makes for diverse writing!
Morningside Method.
There are two crucial parts to being a Morningside Writer: being a good writer and person. We’re not looking for perfect people. What we’re looking for are intelligent, thoughtful critics who can take the time and effort to offer feedback all aspects of a story, and dedicate themselves to writing and submitting work on time for others to evaluate, to honing their craft and improving their skills, to helping and motivating others in their group, and to making the writing group a priority in their life, meeting consistently week after week, month after month.
Everyone Has A Story.
We are looking for people who are comfortable enough with themselves and their work to receive criticism that might seem harsh or even brutal, and confidant enough in their own analytical skills to be able to dish out this kind of criticism to others. In short, we are looking for writers who are humble, considerate, and committed, and who can articulate feedback in a way that is clear, concise, and helpful.
